With Lamar CISD projected to have up to an increase of 29,000 students over the next 10 years, funds from the recently passed education bond will be used to expand and upgrade the district’s facilities to accommodate those higher numbers.
A+ Allocation
Funds are set to be allocated specifically toward facility renovations (Proposition A), technological advancements and upgrades in more than 30 individual campuses assuring each is as safe and well equipped for education as possible (Proposition D).
Schools are slated to receive student and staff laptops, iPads and desktop computers and new orchestra rooms for high schools and junior high schools.
The bonds will also go toward the purchase of new land and 78 buses to aid in Lamar CISD’s ever-expanding student body.
In addition to district-wide facility improvements, the bond will also finance construction of a brand new middle school, a junior high school, a high school and three new elementary schools.
This is the largest bond to pass so far in LCISD, with a grand total of $666.8 million set aside to benefit facilities and students due to the support of voters on Propositions A & D.
“We’re so appreciative of the community’s support for Propositions A and D, which will set our district up for continued success,” said Dr. Thomas Randle, Lamar CISD Superintendent.
Lamar CISD is one of the fastest-growing districts in the state and with the additional funding, district faculty will be able to help ensure quality education for years to come for students new and returning.
